Software comparison

Funeral parlour software in South Africa: the main options compared

easiPol, 360 Administration, The Policy Manager, MortemCare, Profida, JenFlow and Excel: what each is built for, how it’s delivered and how pricing works.

If you run a funeral parlour or burial society in South Africa, you have more software choices than most people realise. They are not all trying to do the same job. Some are built for large administrators and insurers, some for mortuary operations, and some for the parlour that sells and collects its own policies.

This guide sets out the main options, what each one says it is built for, and how to decide. We make JenFlow, so we’ve kept the descriptions of other products to what they publish themselves, and we say where another product may suit you better.

First, decide what job you need done

Funeral businesses usually need software for one or more of these:

  • Policy administration: members, dependants, plans, premiums, arrears, lapses and claims.
  • Collections: running debit orders, stop orders or retail payments at scale.
  • Mortuary and service operations: deceased records, storage, fleet, stock and invoicing.
  • Accounting: the general ledger, VAT and financial statements.

No single product does all four equally well. Knowing which job matters most to you narrows the list quickly.

The products in more detail

JenFlow

Built for funeral parlours and burial societies that sell and administer their own policies. It covers members and dependants, plans and add-ons, premium payments and receipts, arrears, lapses and renewals, claims and funeral cases, SMS reminders, branches, staff roles and daily cash-ups. It runs in a web browser, pricing is published and based on active main-member policies, and you can start a 15-day trial without speaking to a salesperson.

Consider something else if you need the software itself to run debit-order collections or offline field collection on a handheld device. JenFlow records debit-order, EFT, card, cash and Pay@ payments, but it doesn’t run debit-order batches itself.

easiPol

Made by RubiBlue, easiPol describes itself as web-based business management software for funeral parlours, policy administrators and underwriters, and says it supports more than nine African countries. Its website lists a wide range of payment and collection integrations and an Android app, easiPoint, available on a rental. Pricing is not published; it refers to paying for the modules you use. Read our JenFlow and easiPol comparison.

360 Administration (Pol360)

A cloud-based member and policy administration system for funeral and life cover. Its website highlights a WhatsApp chatbot for member self-service, payment integrations and a client list that includes insurers. Pricing is not published, and the site offers a demo. Read our JenFlow and 360 Administration comparison.

The Policy Manager

A Windows desktop funeral policy administration system with multi-branch, multi-user remote access, cash, debit order, stop order and EasyPay collection options, and SMS. It publishes tiered pricing based on member numbers. Read our JenFlow and The Policy Manager comparison.

MortemCare

A cloud platform focused on mortuary and funeral home operations: deceased records, storage tracking, service billing, documents, fleet, inventory and cemetery management. It is a strong fit if your main problem is the operations side rather than policy administration.

Profida

Profida offers an Administrator Edition described as an integrated policy administration system for funeral administrators and burial societies.

Excel

Many parlours start here, and it works while one careful person keeps it up to date. It struggles once you have several branches, several people capturing payments, or plans with age rules and add-ons. See when a spreadsheet stops being enough.

How to choose

  • If you’re a large administrator or underwriter that needs many collection integrations, look closely at easiPol and 360 Administration.
  • If mortuary storage, fleet and stock are your daily headache, look at MortemCare.
  • If you’re a parlour or burial society that wants clear policy administration, published pricing and a trial you can start today, try JenFlow.
